What is Naviextras Toolbox?

Naviextras Toolbox is a free, easy-to-use application that allows you to download and install available map updates or other content (Point of Interest - POI) onto your customer's navigation system.

How can I update my existing maps?

You can update the maps via Naviextras Toolbox application. Please check the Guide for detailed information about the map update process.
Navigate to the 'Available update' screen in the Naviextras Toolbox where all updates are listed.
If you would like to purchase a map update select "Buy updates" option.
Please make sure that you have run the navigation system at least once in your vehicle before attempting to update.

How can I obtain the latest version of the Naviextras Toolbox?

Once a new version of Naviextras Toolbox is available, the program will automatically instruct you to update your current version. If you are uncomfortable using this automatic update method, you can choose to install the newest Naviextras Toolbox from toyota-carmax.welcome.naviextras.com site and download the installation program accompanying the latest version of Naviextras Toolbox.

Can I install the Naviextras Toolbox to Windows?

Yes, Naviextras Toolbox can be used with the latest and two previous versions of Microsoft Windows.

Can I install Naviextras Toolbox to Mac?

Yes, Naviextras Toolbox can be used with the latest and two previous versions of macOS.

Do I need an internet connection to download the latest maps/content?

The Naviextras Toolbox needs to connect to online servers for completing various functions including checking for updates and downloading the latest maps.

How do I start the Naviextras Toolbox?

When you downloaded and installed the Naviextras Toolbox, launch it with the Naviextras Toolbox icon. You can find it among your downloaded applications. For quick access place it on your desktop.

What languages does the Naviextras Toolbox support?

The Naviextras Toolbox is available in multiple languages. Please use the menu selector and click on LANGUAGE to view all available languages.

How can I create an Naviextras Toolbox account?

To download map updates you need to create an account in the Naviextras Toolbox application. Start the Naviextras Toolbox, click on ’Registration’ and provide your name, email address and password.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

If you forgot your password, use the Forgot Password link to recover your password.

I have not received the forgotten password email. What can I do?

First, please check to see if it is in your email’s spam folder. If you do not find the email, you can send a new reminder or you can contact Customer Care.

Map updates

How can I update my existing maps?

You can update your customer's maps via Naviextras Toolbox application. For a quick reference, follow these 4 steps:

  1. Insert a USB key to your navigation device and save its navigation data
  2. Download Naviextras Toolbox to your computer and insert the USB drive that contains the navigation data. Launch the Naviextras Toolbox and login to your account.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your map
  4. Re-insert the USB drive into your navigation device and upload the data

How can I check the availability of any map updates?

You can check it in the Naviextras Toolbox in the Available Updates/Buy Updates menu or you can subscribe for newsletter to receive notifications about new map updates or news via email.

How often should I check for map updates?

We periodically renew our map data to keep the map as accurate as possible. Please contact your local TOYOTA dealer for more information.

Can I install available updates later?

Yes, all available updates can be installed at any point in time.

How long should it take to download the map data?

The download time varies based on the content being downloaded and your internet connection speed. It is recommended to use a broadband internet connection for downloading updates and new contents.

Common problems and solutions

How do I resolve a connection error?

A connection error indicates that the Naviextras Toolbox is unable to reach the online update servers. Please ensure there is an active internet connection available and try to load the Naviextras Toolbox again. Please check the Antivirus, Firewall and Proxy Settings that there are no restrictions, because that can cause connection error, as well.

Why is Naviextras Toolbox not detecting the USB flash drive?

  1. Make sure you have enough free space on the USB flash drive to which you wish to download map update. Minimum recommended free size: 16 GB.
  2. Check if the USB flash drive slot (reader) on your computer is working properly.

Why am I seeing ‘The computer has insufficient free space’?

Naviextras Toolbox needs to first download the selected products from an online server before copying the data to your USB drive. If you see this error, please ensure you have sufficient free space on your computer and restart the download and install process. The free space required varies according to map region.

Why does the download process fail?

The most possible cause is that the Naviextras Toolbox cannot reach the update server due to network issues. Please check your network connectivity.
