Guide to Naviextras Toolbox

Welcome to Map Updates

The navigation update process will require you to go to your car, your computer, and back to your car to complete this process. Please note, navigation updates can also be performed by your local Toyota dealership.

To perform these updates, please prepare:

  • an empty FAT32 formatted USB flash drive (recommended free size at least 32GB)
  • broadband internet connection,
  • one of the supported operating systems, installed on your computer:
    • Windows: the latest and two earlier versions are supported,
    • macOS: the latest and two earlier versions are supported.

Follow these steps to check for Navigation Updates

Step1: Check the OS version of the navigation system

Please check the Infotainment OS version firstly,
PS. please follow the instuction to find the Infotainment System software version.

If the Infotainment OS version date is before April 2, 2022 [03.37_220402_C],
please follow the instruction to update Infotainment System software.

Download Software

If the Infotainment OS version date is after April 2, 2022 [03.37_220402_C],
please start map update directly. Let us go to the next step.

*Note: Please do not turn off the vehicle engine during the update.

Step2: Synchronize the usb flash drive with the navigation system

  1. Download Map Update Instruction
  2. Switch your vehicle to “ENGINE ON” until the Infotainment System fully bootup into the caution page, then enters the main page of the Infotainment System by press “OK”.
  3. Insert the formatted USB flash drive to the USB port on your Infotainment System.
  4. Press the Navigation icon > Navigation Main Menu > Update > Download System Information to USB.
  5. Once system shows the "Operation successful" message, please press "OK", then the USB flash drive can be removed from the Infotainment system

    *Note: Please do not turn off the vehicle engine during the update.

Step3: Download map updates

  1. After installation start the application.
  2. Insert the USB flash drive to the computer and execute the NAVIEXTRAS TOOLBOX application.
    NAVIEXTRAS TOOLBOX will verify if there is a new map update available.
  3. Follow the instruction of STEP2 to finish the map download
    Once the NAVIEXTRAS TOOLBOX has finished, the USB drive can be removed from the computer.

    *Note: The map download time varies based upon internet connection speed and map region.

Step4: Map update to your Infotainment system

  1. Insert the USB flash drive into the appropriate slot in your Infotainment system and turn on the vehicle.
  2. Infotainment System will show "Do you want to update the map content?".
  3. Click YES and the map update process will be commenced.
  4. Once the system shows [Content update successful], the Map update process is completed.
    the USB flash drive can be removed.

    *Note: Please do not turn off the vehicle engine during the update.

    New map content will only take effect at next Infotainment System startup.
